Social Skills Support
Mrs Oakes is our Social Skills Lead LSA. She works closely with Mrs Robinson, Mrs Cato and the class teachers to support those children who may need a little extra help to develop their social skills and confidence.
Our Social Skills interventions take place in the afternoons.
Time to Talk
During our Time to Talk intervention, Mrs Oakes (and Ginger Bear!) support the children to develop the following skills:
- Good Listening
- Increase understanding and use of concepts and vocabulary.
- Conversation skills such as eye contact, turn taking, answering questions etc.
- Attention and Memory
- Making friends
- Awareness of the needs and feelings of others and sharing
- Self-confidence
CASPA (Creating a Successful, Positive Attitude)
During our CASPA intervention, the children work with CASPA Bear and his friends to solve problems and develop social skills.
The main aims are to encourage children to...
- Think positively in tricky situations (such as friendship disputes)
- Explore different emotions
- Learn a range of strategies to deal with emotions
- Communicate, Team Build and start to learn how to become more resilient
If you feel that your child may benefit from these interventions, please contact Mrs Robinson or Mrs Cato.
