Supporting Medical Conditions in school - Individual Care Plans
If your child has a medical condition, allergy or requires medication in school, they may require an Individual Care Plan sothat we can best support their needs in school.
Keeping these plans accurate is an important part of making sure we can support your child safely and confidently in school.
If your child has a medical consition that requires an Individual Care Plan, please check that any updates, medication names, dosages, expiry information and instructions are all correct and up to date. If anything has changed, please let the school office know as soon as possible so that our records can be updated.

Allergy Safety at Barnes Farm Primary School
Keeping children with allergies safe is a whole-school responsibility. All staff have now completed allergy and anaphylaxis training in line with the new requirements associated with Benedict’s Law, including recognising the signs of an allergic reaction and knowing how to respond in an emergency. From September 2026, schools in England are expected to have whole-school allergy arrangements, staff training, individual healthcare plans and access to spare adrenaline devices.
We have also installed three Kitt Medical Anaphylaxis Kitt stations around the school. These contain spare adrenaline auto-injectors for emergency use and form part of our wider allergy-safety procedures.

Barnes FarmPrimary School is a Nut-Free School
We continue to ask families not to send nuts or products containing nuts into school. Current national guidance actually recommends describing schools as “allergy aware” or “nut aware” rather than guaranteeing a completely “nut-free” environment, because no school can guarantee that an allergen will never enter the premises.
This week, children have taken part in an allergy-awareness assembly, helping them understand allergies in an age-appropriate way and how we can all help to keep one another safe.
Thank you to all our families for supporting us with this important message.
